Eisenberg Quoted in Florida Bar News
April 25, 2008

Jones Walker special counsel Steven Eisenberg was quoted in the April 15, 2008 edition of the Florida Bar News.  The article, "Lights, Camera, EASL!," provides updates for the Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law (EASL) Section of the Florida Bar Association.  In the article, section Chair Laurie Anton discusses former Chair Eisenberg's involvement with the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Initiative.  The program enables Florida lawyers to work with South Florida artists and musicians who need representation but may not be able to afford legal fees.  "I think it's a good start and I'm hopeful we'll be able to grow and either handle other parts of the state as well or work with them to develop their own programs," said Eisenberg.

EASL members are also participating in the development of intellectual property as a Bar subspecialty, and IP seminars at the section's latest midyear meeting were well-received.  According to Eisenberg, "Entertainment law is really a combination of intellectual property and contract law.  So we have got to know copyright but also trademark law, to a certain extent."  Three EASL members have become certified in IP so far this year as a result of the initiative.
