Myla Reizen is a member of the firm’s Business & Finance Practice Group. She focuses her practice on serving clients in the health care industry. Prior to joining Jones Walker, Ms. Reizen worked for Davita Dialysis Corporation in Los Angeles, California, as Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and Legal Counsel. As such, she conducted internal investigations and gave advice on government investigations and payer litigation. She also provided regulatory and fraud abuse advice on such topics as physicians and referral source arrangements, including acquisition, medical directorships, leases, and loans.
While serving as Assistant General Counsel to Tenet Healthcare Corporation in Santa Barbara, California, Ms. Reizen managed and oversaw a wide range of government investigation and complex litigation for such topics as physician arrangements, quality of care, and coding and billing. She also managed and coordinated legal activities of teams of external and internal attorneys, paralegals, and support staff, as well as responded to a substantial number of government requests and discovery initiatives. She also began working on relocation agreements and participated in nationwide restructuring and divesture of physician practices. Ms. Reizen provided company-wide training and education to numerous audiences, including senior executives, hospital administration, and members of the Law Department. In addition to participating in legal audits, she conducted internal investigations, including witness interviews and subsequent evaluation and analysis of issues.
After receiving her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1995, Ms. Reizen worked as an associate for the law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery in Miami. She provided regulatory, fraud, and abuse advice to a variety of healthcare providers, such as home health agencies, acute care facilities, and durable medical equipment companies. In addition to assisting in design and standards for audit tools, she conducted legal audits and internal investigations of healthcare providers, such as home health agencies, acute care facilities, and durable medical equipment companies. She held internships with the Honorable C. Clyde Atkins in the United States District Court in the Southern District of Florida and the United States Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Philadelphia.
