Julia Terry joined Jones Walker in 2008 as a member of the Real Estate Practice Group. Her areas of expertise include acquisition, disposition, and securitization of portfolios consisting of industrial, office, retail, and timber properties; commercial leasing; construction lending; and raw land mixed use developments. Prior to joining the firm, she served as Vice President and Underwriting Counsel for First American Title Insurance Company's National Commercial Services (NCS) Division in Atlanta, where she was manager of operations from October of 2005 until April of 2007. From 1991–2005, Ms. Terry was employed by law firms in New Orleans and Jackson, Mississippi, practicing primarily in the areas of commercial real estate, asset based lending, and general business transactions. Prior to beginning her legal career, she was a bank officer with Regions Bank, formerly Deposit Guaranty National Bank, in Jackson, Mississippi.
Ms. Terry received her J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where she served as Associate Editor of Comments for the Mississippi Law Review. She also has an M.B.A. from Millsaps College and a B.A. in English Literature from Wheaton College.

Representative Matters
- Underwrote and closed the sale of 500,000 acres of timberland in the state of Louisiana (out of six million acres nationwide);
- Underwrote and closed the acquisition of a 45-site shopping center portfolio in North Carolina and Virginia;
- Underwrote and closed the loan securitization of a national home builder, securing subdivisions in various stages of completion located in New Jersey, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and California;
- Managed a team of attorneys and paralegals in the acquisition and construction of a 100-site cell tower network in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida;
- Represented two national lenders in numerous transactions secured by real estate, air craft, vessel, and other collateral located throughout the Southeast;
- Represented two national restaurant chains in the acquisition of dozens of sites located in Texas, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Ohio, Rhode Island, Oklahoma, and North Carolina, including both stand-alone and in shopping center locations;
- Closed the acquisition, construction, and sale-leaseback financing of several refrigerator warehouse sites located in Texas, Kansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and New Jersey;
- Represented a national home improvement store chain in the acquisition and development of several Louisiana sites;
- Represented a liquidating trustee in the dismantling and disposition of a 300-acre Louisiana chemical plant (land and other assets).
